Founded in 2000 by Lorraine de Bouchony, Mireille van der Graaf and Nicolas Gerschel, Welcomeurope acts as an independant organisation under french law (SAS Simplified Joint Stock Company), and provides its services on European and international ground.
As a french-dutch organisation, Welcomeurope is the first and direct gateway between European institutions and the potential beneficiaries for public subsidies.
The European Union Supports the first Pan-European online course initiative:
The pan-European online courses initiative MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) is a project funded by the European Union within the framework of the Lifelong Learning programme.
This project consists in providing university online courses, which contributes to modernize teaching methods and to improve access to higher education. It is thus part of the new Opening up Education initiative that the Commission will launch this summer.
