Rube Goldbergs provide a way for students to demonstrate their understanding of Physics concepts in a physical way. SciMaTech teachers and shop teachers for years have allowed for students to be the master builders and use tools of their trade to become architects and
structural engineers. Minecraft is another way for students to tap into that creativity when they don’t have access to a craft space or wood working tools.

Connected Camps Summer of Minecraft was catalyzed by three girl geeks on a mission to make coding and digital arts accessible and fun for all kids.
The Mushroom Experiment Lesson Plan:
This lesson is intended to teach core statistical concepts to students in junior high or high school. In this lesson the students run an experiment, then build a histogram showing the results of the experiment. The students then run the experiment again and compare the results of the two experiments. It is possible to teach this lesson in one class period, although you may choose to cover part one of this lesson one day, and part two the next day. This lesson is set up to accommodate up to 25 students.

In this link are four engaging lessons for history and social studies educators that incorporate primary sources of the American Revolution — the original town newspapers and broadsheets. All newspapers featured in the lessons are reproduced in full-color HD in Reporting the Revolutionary War and include historical context (some also include transcripts). For classroom purposes, we have also provided links to printable versions of the newspaper articles, each sized to 8″ x 10.5″ for convenient printing to 8.5″ x 11″ paper. Common Core Standards for Literacy in History and Social Studies were addressed for grades 9-10, but teachers can easily level down to grades 6-7-8 or up to 11-12 with minor modifications. The lessons were generously contributed by Pennsylvania high school teacher Michelle A. Larson.

Get the Math combines video and web interactivity to help middle and high school students develop algebraic thinking skills for solving real-world problems. Drawing on conventions of popular reality TV shows, video segments begin with profiles of young professionals, who then pose challenges connected to their jobs to two teams of teens. Viewers are encouraged to try the challenges themselves using interactive tools provided on the Get the Math website before returning to the video to see the teams’ solutions. Students can further explore the same, as well as extended, algebraic concepts through additional interactive challenges on the website.
