ISIPE is an international network of student groups standing for pluralism in the teaching of Economics. It was created on the 5th of May, 2014 via an open letter translated into 14 languages and signed by more than 80 student groups in 32 countries, as well as by renowned economists from diverse backgrounds. It acknowledged the narrowness of spirit of economics courses, disconnected from debates and new challenges, especially those posed by the 2008 crisis. This narrowness – strongly felt by the students and denounced by many economists – it is not inevitable and the solution is a pluralistic approach: to teach and let a dialogue develop between different theories; to diversify tools at hand and to build bridges to other disciplines; to combine technical skills and critical thinking.
